Where can you attend the world’s largest music festival this weekend?

AwesomeSauce

This weekend in Milwaukee, Wisconsin through July 5th, a great music festival, Summerfest, is happening and if you are in the area, have the time and money, it is definitely worth a visit.  They also claim to be the largest music festival in the world.  Having attended Summerfest and other big, music festivals in Chicago, New Orleans, etc., and having a solid basis for comparison, it seemed worth asking if this is Fact or Faked, in the tradition of Ben Hansen. Bellingrath Gardens is tops in Christmas lights in the Mobile Bay

From the frozen north to the balmy south a favorite Christmas tradition is decorating trees, houses, and most anything that doesn’t move (and a few that do) with colored lights.  Some flash, change colors, and even play music. After the lights are up, families will pile in the car and ride around and look ast their neighbors homes, and if lucky, the city park and other public locations will have more elaborate ones for their viewing. On the Mobile Bay,

Frenchy and the Punk can be seen at conventions and festivals across the US and in Europe.  Their music is a marvelous mélange of mellifluous melodies and deliciously diverse ditties, the best description comes from the source. John N Collins (JNC): How would you describe your band? Samantha Stephenson (SS): We call it Indie Folk Punk Cabaret. (JNC): Who are your band members? (SS): Samantha Stephenson – Vocals, Percussion, Drums Scott Helland – Guitar, Live Guitar Looping, Vocals, Drums (JNC): Can you

Music for the medieval – Pirates and Wenches, now on CD

Renaissance Festivals are a great place to set the modern world to the side and escape to an otherwhen and see performances from jousting, sword fighting, jugglers, fire eaters and concerts with music of another time.  The band Pirates and Wenches have been offering up their music at the Olde World Village with their own, original music and traditional shanties. Jared Vaden plays his violin and other instruments for the band.  Ramberto Bastell is on the guitar and brings a strong Spanish influence to

Scales and Sounds at Summerfest

101_0459

Friday evening on the 4th of July at Summerfest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, an eager audience of all ages gathered in the BMO Harris Pavilion to hear the legendary performers, Harvey Scales and the Seven Sounds.  The evening was warm but comfortable and the smell of the food at the adjoining Barbecue was tempting but the audience was ready and waiting for the music as a huge saxophone playing puppet weaved through the crowded auditorium.  At times it seemed as though Harvey doubted that so many

Milwaukee’s Summerfest is now in full throttle and running hot on the Fourth of July.  The music has been playing since June 25th and doesn’t stop until July 6th.  Herb Fellerer, one of the staff photographers for Mardi Gras Memories and The Weird Review, has been bragging about The Summerfest for a few years and claiming it to be the largest Music Festival in the world. As a veteran of event coverage including Mardi Gras, it was intriguing to hear about this event that even blew

Steamy, singing stalkers – following the followers @weird_review

While walking down the lantern lit, cobblestone streets of steampunk, it is sometimes wise to take a quick peek over your shoulder.  It helps to decide whether to run or stop for a listen. While taking a peek at the followers of @Weird_Review it was worth noting how many great steampunk bands and musicians there were hiding in the shadows. It was no surprise to see my old steampunk related favorites like @jonmackinder, @AllisonCurval, @frenchyNthepunk, @VictorSierraBob, @AutomatonMetal, @michimusic, @harpzombie hanging in the shadows.
