Three entertaining events steaming onto the scene


Letting off steam at Her Royal Majesty’s Steampunk Symposium 2014 Over the next week three events of steamy significance will be happening in the steampunk community in Cincinati, Detroit, and on the aetherweb including the Steampunk Empire Symposium, the Midwest Media Expo, and the debut album release of a new band, Ague. Steamy, singing stalkers – following the followers @weird_review


While walking down the lantern lit, cobblestone streets of steampunk, it is sometimes wise to take a quick peek over your shoulder.  It helps to decide whether to run or stop for a listen. While taking a peek at the followers of @Weird_Review it was worth noting how many great steampunk bands and musicians there were hiding in the shadows. It was no surprise to see my old steampunk related favorites like @jonmackinder, @AllisonCurval, @frenchyNthepunk, @VictorSierraBob, @AutomatonMetal, @michimusic, @harpzombie hanging in the shadows.

Soul singer sought, Tin Men lose heart, while French instrumentalists implement invasion

Frenchy and the Punk doing what they do best! Things are continually moving in the world of music and this week is no exception.  Reports from various directions including soul singer Anita Baker, the Steam Powered Giraffe, and French favorite bands Frenchy and the Punk from New York and Victor Sierra in Paris. Steampunk Symposium news from Cincinnati and Long Beach


  A Pickled Performance at the Steampunk Empire Symposium 2013 On January 6, 2014 Aloysius Fox announced that the Pickled Brothers Circus has been officially added to the Steampunk Empire Symposium line up.  The Pickled Brothers are holders of multiple world records and are known for their sword swallowing, fire eating, nail bed laying, and other acts of pain.  The event will be held over the weekend of April 25 – 27, 2014 in Cincinnati, Ohio.   Steam Powered Giraffe’s Hatchie ©2013 by Lance Sabbag of Blue Dragon Media Once again San Diego’s Steam Powered Giraffe wowed the crowd in the Detroit area only a month after their packed performance at Youmacon in Detroit’s GM Renaissance Center.  They filled the 500 seat Marquis Theater in Northville, Michigan both Friday and Saturday nights.  Saturday’s performance was delayed a bit as the stage had to be torn down after Friday’s performance for the Little Mermaid on Saturday afternoon and due to the inclement weather.
